ANSI 5010 Translator
The ANSI 5010 Translator converts raw transmission files into a readable format with loop, line, and segment references. This utility helps troubleshoot rejections or denials by making the transmission file structure easier to analyze and understand.
Navigate to Data Maintenance and select Translate ANSI 5010 Transmission File.

Using the Translator
When you open the utility, you'll see a simple interface with a description and three buttons: Browse, Translate, and Cancel.
Start by clicking the Browse button to locate your ANSI 5010 transmission file. The file must be in .txt format to be valid. Once you select a file from the browse dialog, the file name will appear next to the Browse button, and the Translate button will become enabled.
Click the Translate button to begin the translation process. The utility will process your file and automatically download the translated version to your local machine with the file name "Translated_[original file name].txt". When the translation completes successfully, you'll see a confirmation message: "Translation complete. File downloaded successfully."
If you want to exit without translating a file, click the Cancel button to return to the Data Maintenance directory.
Translated File Format

The translated output organizes the ANSI 5010 data with clear loop, line, and segment references, making it much easier to identify specific elements within the transmission. This structured format helps you quickly locate problem areas when investigating rejections or denials from clearinghouses and payers.
Troubleshooting
If the translation fails, you'll receive an error message: "Error: translation unsuccessful. Please contact AIM Support for further assistance." This typically occurs if the file is corrupted, improperly formatted, or not a valid ANSI 5010 transmission file. Contact AIM Support with the original file for assistance.
Common Uses
Use this utility when you receive rejection or denial messages from clearinghouses or payers that reference specific loops, segments, or elements in your transmission. The translated file makes it easier to locate these references and understand what data caused the issue. This is particularly helpful for troubleshooting billing errors, identifying missing or invalid data elements, and resolving transmission problems before resubmitting claims.
