Appendix D: Turning off the Google Chrome AutoComplete Page

If conflicts occur between The AIM System’s AutoComplete and Google Chrome’s AutoComplete, it is best practice to turn off the setting in Chrome.

 

Google Chrome’s AutoComplete fills in the word that is being typed and can do so a lot faster than the program. If the word is completed by Chrome, the program functionality that provides a list (and typically an associated code for the XML) is not available. This makes it appear that the field is entered properly but is not.

 

Another concern with AutoComplete is that program password(s) are completed with this setting, which creates a security issue.

 

To inactivate Google Chrome’s AutoComplete:

 

Click on the Menu Icon at the upper right of the browser screen:

Click on Settings. A new window opens.

Find Advanced at the bottom of the Settings Screen. Click it.

Find the Passwords and forms Group and uncheck the box for Enable Autofill to fill out web forms in a single click.
