Cardiac Monitor Data Import Guide
AIM integrates currently with Zoll cardiac monitors in order to automatically populate Vitals data and related attachments.
Note: In order to utilize AIM's Cardiac Monitor Data Import function, the feature must first be enabled through the Sales Department. Contact them at 1-800-726-4690.
Use of AIM's Cardiac Monitor Data Import function requires some Setup in external systems. Select the vendor below to review the required setup:

AIM's Cardiac Monitor integration function allows for data to be automatically imported into a patient care report. The following data is able to be imported into ePCRs automatically if captured during the encounter:
- File Attachments, such as EKG strips
- Date/Time of Vitals
- Pulse Oximetry
- Heart Rate
- Heart Rate Measurement Method
- Diastolic Blood Pressure
- Systolic Blood Pressure
- Mean Arterial Pressure
- EtCO2
- Respiratory Rate
- Temperature
Once the Cardiac Monitor Integration feature has been enabled, users of AIM ePCR will see a new icon at the top of their patient care reports:

Using this icon requires that the Cardiac Monitor Integration feature be enabled through the AIM Sales Department, otherwise an error will be received. This icon is only available for use while the patient care report is in Edit mode.
Note: At this time, only ZOLL monitors with Cloud capabilities can utilize the Cardiac Monitor Integration feature. Additional monitor types will be available soon. Contact AIM Support with any questions.
When the button is selected, the Monitor Data Import pop up appears:

This pop up allows the user to control what data will be automatically populated to the patient care report from the available records from the monitor cloud. At a high level, the typical process for importing data is as follows:
- Select the encounter (also known as a 'Device Record') that contains the appropriate data from the Device Records grid.
- Once a device record has been selected, it will be highlighted. Select the 'Attach Highlighted Events to PCR' button to lock-in that selection. This won't populate the data from that device record yet, but it will make it available for review in the Current Device Record / Imported Data Selection sections.
- Review the data for that device record. You can see the data pertaining to this record in the Imported Data Selection section. Attachment and Vitals records can be previewed and selected to be attached/populated or not in this section, shown alongside the rest of the date/time fields from the PCR for context.
- Red records will not populate, while Green records will - control what populates and what does not with the Green Plus buttons and the Red Minus buttons.
- The Current Device Record summarizes the device record that was selected.
- If the user does not want to populate the selected device record, select the 'Remove from PCR' button. This can also be done after the data has been populated to the PCR in order to remove the previously-populated data easily in the event the wrong data was populated.
- To save the selection and to attach/populate the data associated with that device record, click the Save button in the bottom-right of the Monitor Data Import pop up. Once done, any attachment or vitals data selected will be populated.
Device Selection Dropdown

The Device Selection dropdown helps limit the available device records by filtering the Device Records grid to only contain records from a specific or type of specific device. In this dropdown, a few options will be available:
- ALL: When All is selected, all devices' records will display.
- ZOLL: When ZOLL is selected, only device records from ZOLL monitors will display.
- The other options in this dropdown indicate the type of monitor alongside its name or Serial Number. Selection of one of those options will filter the Device Records grid to only events from that monitor - it is the easiest way to find the appropriate record for an event.
For best practices, it's recommended that each monitor be added to General Setup > Devices Setup. If each monitor's Serial Number is added to a Device Setup record, then instead of the lengthy serial number, a user-defined Name for that device can be configured and will display instead in the Device Selection dropdown just like in the above screenshot.
If a user's Shift Assignment contains an assigned device, that device will automatically be selected in the Device Selection dropdown, making it much easier to find the appropriate record in the Device Records grid.

Date Range Section

This section simply configures the Device Records section to only display device records with Start Date/Times within that date of Service Range. The dates will always automatically be set to a month back from the current date.
The Refresh button to the right of this section also allows for the Device Records grid to be updated with new records if the date range or device selection is changed. It also provides the latest and greatest data from the Cloud if new records have been uploaded from the monitor since accessing the Monitor Data Import screen.
Device Records Grid

The Device Records grid shows the available device records from applicable monitors over the date range in the section above it. Selection of a record in this section will cause that record to be highlighted.
- Case Start Date/Time: This is the date/time that the encounter began. This is the easiest way to tell which record belongs to the encounter's PCR.
- Device Name/Serial Number: This shows the Name (or serial number) of the Device to which that device record was captured on. The Name will display instead of the Serial Number if a record with that serial number exists in Devices Setup. See here for more information.
- Monitor Patient ID: This is the device-assigned ID of the patient. This is another way to tell which record belongs to the encounter's PCR.
- Imported Date/Time: Typically, only records that have not been imported display in the Device Records grid. However, if 'Show Imported Devices' is enabled (as shown in the screenshot above), any records that match the current criteria of the Device Records grid that were already imported will display along with the date/time they were imported.
- Show Imported Devices checkbox: Checking this option, as explained above, shows any record that was previously imported that matches the current criteria of the Device Records grid.
In the event another user accidentally imports the device record needed for another PCR, that record can still be found and subsequently imported by checking the "Show Imported Devices" checkbox.
- Attach Highlighted Events to PCR button: Select this option to review the data for that device record. In order to populate the data in a device record, you will need to first attach the record using this button. Once done, the record's will be shown in the Current Device Record grid and its data will be available for review in the Imported Data Selection section.
Once the record associated with this PCR is highlighted, click the Attach Highlighted Events to PCR button to begin reviewing the data that populates. The currently-attached record will then be removed from the Device Records grid and relocated to the Current Device Record grid.
Current Device Record Grid

The Current Device Record grid shows the currently-attached record. The data will not populate onto the PCR until the Save button is selected.
The Remove from PCR button is present in this section. Its function is to remove either the currently-attached record, or to assist with removing previously-populated data.
- To remove the currently-attached record, simply click the Remove from PCR button. This will remove the currently-attached record and relocate it back to the Device Records grid.
- To remove data that had been populated from the incorrect device record, click the Remove from PCR button, then click save. Afterwards the data that had populated from the previously-attached record will be cleared from the PCR.
- Note: The Vitals section should still be reviewed for accuracy after the data has been removed.
Imported Data Selection Section

Once a record has been attached, the Imported Data Selection section will shift to displaying not only the various date/time intervals added to the current PCR. It will then also display any file attachments or Vitals records associated with that device record. Images, such as EKG strip data, will be listed at the top of the Imported Data Selection section. Any vitals data will be shown in chronological order within the rest of the date/time intervals.
Attachments can be previewed using the 'i' button - you can close this preview with the 'X' button.

Users can also preview the Vitals data the same way:

The Heart Rate, if captured on the monitor, will always default to 'Electronic Monitor - Cardiac' as the vitals were in fact captured by a cardiac monitor. Other Vitals that were not captured will display with '---' to indicate no data will populate.

The + and X buttons allow for control over the data that will populate on the PCR. Initially, all available data will be selected to populate. As shown in the above screenshot, data that is intended to populate once the Save button is clicked will be highlighted in Green. However, if the user does not want certain data to populate, such as the Image in the above screenshot, the user can select the X button in order to remove it. This highlights the data in Red to indicate it will not be populated. This can be reversed by clicking the + button to change that record to Green.
Ultimately, whatever data is in Green when the Save button is clicked will populate to that PCR. If the wrong data was populated, subsequently return to the Monitor Data Import pop up, select the 'Remove from PCR' button in the Current Device Records grid, and Save again.
