Foreign Patient Documentation
Across the AIM System, there are different data entry requirements for documenting patients who do not reside in the United States. This article details their documentation requirements.
Please note: Documentation requirements for foreign patients differ from state-to-state in AIM ePCR. Please contact Support with any questions.
AIM Billing Foreign Patient Data Entry Requirements
In AIM Billing, foreign patients in the following countries are supported:
- Canada
- Mexico
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- Germany
- India
If your patient resides in a foreign country outside this list, please contact AIM Support.
To record a foreign patient's address, enter the following for the Billing module's Information Tab (patient or insured information sections) or for the Accounts/Subscription module's Information or Members Tabs:
- Patient Address: Record the patient's street address.
- Patient Apt/Other: Entered if applicable.
- Patient City: Record the foreign city
- Patient State: Record the 2-3 letter abbreviation for the state/province/etc
- Patient Zip: Enter the zip or postal code, depending on foreign address requirements
- Note: Patient Country is not entered in AIM Billing - the country is selected behind-the-scenes automatically through the selection of the state.
AIM Dispatch/ePCR Foreign Patient Data Entry Requirements
Please note: Foreign patient data entry in AIM ePCR also depends on state requirements. Please consult with AIM Support if you have any questions on documenting foreign patient addresses.
Typically, documentation of foreign patients in AIM Dispatch and ePCR requires the majority of the address information to be put in the Address 2 line in the Patient Tab due to National EMS Information System (NEMSIS) and state requirements. Foreign Patient documentation in Dispatch/ePCR can be completed in the following way for the Patient Address sections throughout these applications:
- Patient Address: Record the patient's street address.
- Patient Address 2: Record the foreign city, state/province/etc, and postal/zip code.
- Patient City: Not Applicable
- Patient State: Not Applicable
- Patient Zip Code: Not Applicable
- Patient County: Not Applicable
- Patient Country: Select the foreign country here.
