This section documents the location where the patient was found, scene details, and information about other responders present at the scene.

Pick Up Location

Pick Up Location Name - Required when using AIM Billing (eScene.10)

  • The name of the location where the patient was found
  • Examples: "123 Main Street Residence", "City Park", "ABC Manufacturing"

Location Code - Required in certain states (eScene.23)

  • A code assigned to commonly used locations
  • Helps with rapid location identification for frequent destinations

Address - Optional (eScene.11)

  • Street address where the patient was found
  • Include house/building number and street name

Address 2 - Optional

  • Additional address information
  • Used for building names, complex names, or additional location details

Apartment Suite or Room - Optional (eScene.12)

  • Apartment number, suite number, or room number
  • Important for multi-unit buildings or facilities

Cross Street or Directions - Optional (eScene.13)

  • Cross streets or specific directions to help locate the address
  • Helpful for rural areas or locations difficult to find

Mile Post or Major Roadway - Optional (eScene.14)

  • Mile marker or major roadway reference
  • Used for highway incidents or locations without standard addresses

City - Optional (eScene.15)

  • City where the patient was found
  • Auto-complete field - type at least 3 letters to activate dropdown suggestions
  • Selecting City automatically populates State, County, and Country

State - Optional (eScene.16)

  • State where the patient was found
  • Options: All US states and territories (AK, AL, AR, AS, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, GU, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MP, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, PR, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UM, UT, VA, VI, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY)
  • Automatically populated when City or Zip Code is selected

Zip Code - Optional (eScene.17)

  • ZIP code where the patient was found
  • Auto-complete field - type at least 3 numbers to activate dropdown suggestions
  • Selecting Zip Code automatically populates City, State, County, and Country

Township - Optional

  • Township where the patient was found
  • Used in areas where township designation is relevant

County - Optional (eScene.18)

  • County where the patient was found
  • Automatically populated when City or Zip Code is selected

Country - Optional (eScene.19)

  • Country where the patient was found
  • Automatically populated when City or Zip Code is selected
  • Defaults to United States

Census Tract - Optional (eScene.20)

  • Census tract for the pickup location
  • Used for demographic and statistical reporting
  • May be automatically populated based on address

GPS Latitude - Optional (eScene.21)

  • GPS latitude coordinates of the pickup location
  • Decimal format
  • May be automatically captured if using GPS-enabled devices or tablets
  • Manual entry available if automatic capture is not functioning
  • Helps with precise location documentation for remote or difficult-to-describe locations

GPS Longitude - Optional (eScene.21)

  • GPS longitude coordinates of the pickup location
  • Decimal format
  • May be automatically captured if using GPS-enabled devices or tablets
  • Manual entry available if automatic capture is not functioning
  • Helps with precise location documentation for remote or difficult-to-describe locations

National Grid Coordinates - Optional (eScene.22)

  • National Grid coordinate reference
  • Alternative to GPS coordinates
  • Used in some jurisdictions for precise location identification

Scene Information

Location Type - Recommended (eScene.09)

  • The type of location where the patient was found
  • Examples include: Residence, Street/Highway, Public Building, Commercial Building, Healthcare Facility, etc.
  • Select the most specific location type available
  • Used for data analysis, system planning, and identifying high-frequency response locations

First on Scene - Optional (eScene.07)

  • Indicates whether this unit was the first unit to arrive on scene
  • Options: No, Yes

Initial Responder Arrival - Optional (eScene.01)

  • Date/time when the first EMS or public safety responder arrived on scene
  • May differ from your unit's arrival time if another agency arrived first

Number of Patients - Recommended (eScene.02)

  • The number of patients at the scene
  • Options:
    • Multiple - More than one patient
    • None - No patient found on scene
    • Single - One patient

Mass Casualty - Optional (eScene.03)

  • Indicates whether the incident is a mass casualty incident (MCI)
  • Options: No, Yes
  • A mass casualty incident involves multiple patients that exceed available resources
  • Select "Yes" when patient volume exceeds normal operating capacity
  • Triggers different documentation and reporting requirements
  • Important for resource allocation and after-action review

Other Responders

Document all other responding agencies or personnel present at the scene. Multiple responders can be added. This information is important for coordinated responses, reporting, and documenting chain of custody and care transfer.

Name - Optional (eScene.04)

  • Name of the other responding agency or service
  • Examples: "City Fire Department", "State Police", "ABC Ambulance Service"

ID Number - Optional (eScene.05)

  • Identification number for the other responding unit
  • Examples: Unit number, badge number, apparatus number

Type of Service - Optional (eScene.06)

  • The type of service provided by the other responder
  • Options:
    • EMS
    • Mutual Aid
    • Fire
    • First Responder
    • Hazmat
    • Law Enforcement
    • Other
    • Other EMS Agency
    • Other Health Care Provider
    • Rescue
    • Utilities

First Other EMS or Public Safety Agency at Scene - Optional (eScene.07)

  • Indicates whether this other agency was the first EMS or public safety agency on scene
  • Options: No, Yes
  • Use to identify which agency arrived first when multiple agencies respond

Patient Care Transfer Type - Recommended (eScene.08)

  • Describes the type of patient care transfer that occurred between EMS agencies
  • Options:
    • No Transfer of Patient/Care To/From Agency - No inter-agency transfer occurred
    • Received Patient from Agency - Another EMS agency initiated care and transferred patient to your unit
    • Transferred Patient to Agency - Your unit initiated care and transferred patient to another EMS agency
  • Important for documenting continuity of care between agencies
