Patient Care Setup: Incident Flags Setup

Incident Flags Setup allows for users to submit data in relation to their patient care report to a specified e-mail during the completion of the PCR.

Incident Flags are used to notify an individual of events that occur during an EMS encounter. These could be events where wrongdoing ocurred, an explanation of a delay, or simply just a notification to a pharmacy of when a narcotic was pushed. Ultimately, the feature simply allows a user to enter a small report in the Incident Flags Tab of the PCR which is then e-mailed to a specified destination once the PCR is finished.

Incident Flags are a user-definable feature. This means that although this function can be used to report on actual incidents occurring during transport, this feature can actually be used for just about anything. The way this feature works is by entering data on the Incident Flags Tab of the PCR. The information in that section will then be e-mailed automatically to a chosen recipient once the PCR that the flag was written on is completed.

The feature is split into a few sections:

Incident Flag Types: These are the different reasons for why an incident flag could be sent. Users are able to create different types of Incident Flags in order for these to be able to be reported to different e-mail addresses.

E-mail Addresses: This is the where the e-mail address for the recipient of the Incident Flag report will be sent to. Enter the e-mail in the Email field and the name of the individual or organization in the Contact box.

Report Template: This is where a template can be entered for organized and consistent data entry. Any data entered will auto-populate to the Patient Care Report, Optional Page, Incident Flags Page, Incident Flag Details text box when that Incident Flag Type is used.

Ultimately, you will need to enter at least one Incident Flag Type in order to use the Incident Flags feature on the PCR. Management can return to any PCRs with Incident Flags and add comments to them after the PCR is complete (you do not have to unfinish the PCR to do so). Incident Flags can be identified using the Incident Flag Report in the Patient Care Reports Module.
